Táto magisterská diplomová práca sa zaoberá teóriou prototypov, vypracovanou Elanor Roschovou v druhej polovici dvadsiateho storočia. Po definovaní tejto teórie v psychológií, kde vznikla, sa bude teoretická časť tejto práce venovať jej vývoju a uplatneniu v jazykovede, pričom budú spomenuté tak jej prínos ako jej nedostatky.
