Biological tests and their usefulness in detecting toxicity of synthetic dyes

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou syntetických barviv. V teoretické části jednotlivé kapitoly pojednávají o textilním průmyslu a toxicitě odpadních vod obsahujících syntetická barviva. Dále je popsán vliv průmyslu na životní prostředí, hlavní pozornost je věnována znečištění vod a půd. Poslední kapitola uvádí přehled ekotoxikologických biotestů používaných k hodnocení kontaminant životního prostředí. V experimentální části byla testována toxicita syntetických barviv Remazol Brilliant Blue R a Disperse Blue 3 před a po biodegradaci houbou Pleurotus ostreatus v diskovém bioreaktrou. Toxicita byla hodnocena pomocí kontaktního testu na chvostoskocích a Phytotoxkit mikrobiotestem na Sinapis alba. Sledovaným parametrem byla inhibice růstu kořene Sinapis alba, inhibice reprodukce a mortalita chvostoskoků v závislosti na koncentraci barviva.

Abstract:

This thesis handles with issue of synthetic dyes. In the theoretical part individual chapters deals with textile industry and toxicity of wastewater containing synthetic dyes. We also describe the influence of industry on the environment, the main attention is paid to pollution of water and soil. The last chapter gives an overview of ecotoxicological bioassays used to evaluate environmental contaminants. In the experimental part was tested toxicity of synthetic dyes Remazol Brilliant Blue R and Disperse Blue 3 before and after biodegradation by fungus Pleurotus ostreatus in the bioreactor disc. Toxicity was rated by using the contact test on collembolans and Phytotoxkit microbiotests on Sinapis alba. Endpoint was inhibition of root growth of Sinapis alba, inhibiting reproduction and mortality of collembola depending on the concentration of the dye.
