Polymérne materiály vzhľadom k svojim materiálovým charakteristikám, chemickej stabilite, malej hmotnosti a taktiež pre množstvo možností vzhľadu majú rôzne použitie. Dokonca i množstvo medicínskych a biotechnologických produktov je kompletne alebo čiastočne vyrobených z polyméru.
