Patriots, foreigners and migrants in Czechia

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou národní identity a její povahy v případě České republiky. Zkoumá, jak se tato národní identita vyvíjela mezi lety 1995 a 2013 na základě sekundární analýzy dat projektu ISSP oddílů Národní Identita 1995, 2003 a 2013. S pomocí těchto dat taktéž zkoumá míru vlastenectví a šovinismu a jak vyvíjely tyto jevy v čase. Třetí úrovní analýzy je zkoumání netolerance přistěhovalců ve společnosti a sledování jejího vývoje v daném období. Na toto navazuje snaha o popsání celkové reálné imigrace do Česka v průběhu analyzovaných let a její hlavní dimenze – ekonomické imigrace. V poslední části práce autor zkoumá vzájemné vztahy mezi těmito jevy, kdy se zajímá o to, jak vyvíjela česká národní identita, hrdost a tolerance a do jaké míry, pokud vůbec, se tyto jevy vzájemně ovlivňovaly a byly ovlivňovány přicházejícími cizinci na území České republiky.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis follows the topic of national identity in the context of the Czech Republic. It analyzes how the identity developed through time in years between 1995 and 2013. For that it uses data from the project ISSP and its specialized section National Identity published in 1995, 2003 and 2013. It uses the data also to analyze the degree of patriotism and chauvinism and how they developed through time. The third level of analysis studies the degree of intolerance towards immigrants in the Czech society and also how it developed in the focused period of time. On that it follows with brief description of overall real immigration to Czechia with special focus on economic immigration. The final part of the thesis analyses the connections between mentioned topics and how these connections, if they are real, developed through time.
