The bachelor thesis observes the issues of the historical development of the Highland Games and their position in today's society. The aim of the thesis is the discovery of whether they are considered to be cultural or sporting events. Subsequently, it deals with the division of sportsmen into professionals and amateurs. Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou historického vývoje Skotských her a jejich postavením v dnešní společnosti. Cílem je zjištění, zda se jedná o kulturní nebo sportovní záležitost. Následně zkoumá rozdělení sportovců na profesionály a amatéry. V závěru si autorka položí otázku, jak Skotské hry přispívají k posílení skotské identity.
