The impact of the peer group for the participation in the classroom talk

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá vlivem vrstevnických skupin na participaci žáků, která probíhá v rámci výukové komunikace. Tato práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. V teoretické části práce jsou popsány vrstevnické skupiny, kde je kladen důraz na vrstevnické skupiny ve školní třídě. Zabývá se také genderovými vztahy mezi žáky ve školní třídě, především v pátém ročníku základní školy. Také se zaměřuje na komunikaci ve školní třídě, kde je vysvětlen rozdíl mezi pedagogickou komunikací a výukovou komunikací. V empirické části práce je popsána metodologie výzkumného šetření. Dále jsou zde interpretovány výsledky z kvalitativního výzkumu, který byl proveden prostřednictvím strukturovaného i nestrukturovaného pozorování a dotazníků. Analýza dat ukázala, že vrstevnické skupiny ovlivňují komunikaci ve školní třídě. Žáci reagovali v obou třídách nejvíce na spolužáky ze svých vrstevnických skupin a každá vrstevnická skupina obsahovala dominantního žáka, který inicioval komunikaci dané skupiny a komunikoval nejvíce.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the impact of the peer group for the participation in classroom talk. The thesis is divided to two sections: the theoretical background and the empirical section. The theoretical background describes peer groups with the focus on peer groups in the fifth grade of elementary school. It also deals with gender relations among pupils in the classroom, especially in the fifth year of primary school. The thesis is also focused on classroom talk and describes the difference between pedagogical communication and classroom talk. The empirical section introduces the methodology of the research. It also interprets results from the qualitative research which was carried out through structured and unstructured observation and questionnaires. Data analysis has shown that peer groups influence classroom talk. Pupils responded most to classmates from their peer groups. Each class and each peer group contained a dominant pupil. The dominant pupil was the one who initiated the communication of the group and communicated the most.
