Secondary succession on abandoned fields in a hilly landscape of South Moravia

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá sukcesí vegetace na opuštěných polích v teplé a suché oblasti jižní Moravy pomocí metody space-for-time substitution. Na základě rozdílně starých leteckých snímků byla vybrána sukcesně různě stará opuštěná pole na lokalitách Pavlovské vrchy, Pouzdřanská step a Dunajovické vrchy, na kterých bylo v letech 2007–2009 zapsáno 182 fytocenologických snímků. Zastoupení cévnatých rostlin a mechorostů bylo hodnoceno pomocí rozšířené devítistupňové Braun-Blanquetovy stupnice abundance a dominance. Snímky byly rozděleny do tří věkových skupin opuštěných polí. V oblasti Pavlovských vrchů se jednalo o skupiny v rozmezí 4–12, 13–39 a 40–69 let od opuštění, na Pouzdřanské stepi o skupiny 5–18, 19–47 a 48–70 let od opuštění a v Dunajovických vrších o skupiny 6–19, 20–56 a 57–71 let od opuštění. Analýzami byla porovnávána data týkající se druhového složení, charakteristik vegetace, proměnných prostředí a Ellenbergových indikačních hodnot. Sukcesní stáří představovalo jeden z nejvýznamějších faktorů ovlivňujících rostlinná společenstva. S přibývajícím věkem opuštěných polí místy významně vzrostl počet druhů i jejich pokryvnosti, zatímco počet archeofytů na všech studovaných lokalitách poklesl. Počet neofytů zůstal během sukcese na stejné úrovni. Výrazná změna v zastoupení jednoletých a dvouletých rostlin zaznamenána nebyla. Počet vytrvalých rostlin se s dobou uplynulou od opuštění pole zvyšoval. Podíl anemochorních druhů v průběhu sukcese postupně klesal a současně vzrůstal podíl zoochorních druhů. V sukcesně mladších stadiích vegetace převládaly ruderální a plevelové druhy a naopak v pokročilejších sukcesních stadiích druhy suchých trávníků. Půdní pH bylo u nejstarších stanovišť v Pavlovských vrších signifikantně kyselejší a negativně korelovalo s Ellenbergovými indikačními hodnotami pro půdní reakci. EIH pro vlhkost a živiny v průběhu sukcese klesaly. Na nejdéle opuštěných polích se vyvinula druhově bohatá a ochranářsky hodnotná travinná společenstva svazu Cirsio-Brachypodion pinnati.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis describes the succession on abandoned fields in the warm and dry area of South Moravia using the space-for-time substitution method. The abandoned agricultural fields of different ages were chosen on the basis of aerial photographs in the Pavlov Hills, Pouzdřany Steppe and Dunajovice Hills. In those fields 182 phytosociological relevés were recorded during the years 2007–2009. The abundance of vascular plants and bryophytes was described by means of the nine-degree Braun-Blanquet scale of abundance and dominance. The relevés were divided into three age groups according to the time elapsed since abandonment. In the region of the Pavlov Hills the abandoned fields were divided into the groups of 4–12, 13–39 and 40–69 yrs, in the Pouzdřany Steppe into the groups 5–18, 19–47 and 48–70 yrs and in the Dunajovice Hills 6–19, 20–56 and 57–71 yrs since abandonment. Species composition, characteristics of vegetation and environment and Ellenberg indicator values were compared. The succession age was one of the most important factors influencing plant communities. Since abandonment the total number of species and cover significantly increased over the years, while the number of archaeophytes decreased. The number of neophytes did not change significantly. There was no significant change recorded between the groups of old fields regarding the number of annuals and biennials except the decrease of annuals in the Pavlov Hills. The number of perennials was increasing during the succession. The percentage proportion of wind-dispersed species was gradually decreasing over the years since abandonment, whereas the animal-dispersed species were increasing. The number of diagnostic species of dry grasslands increased while the number of diagnostic species of ruderal and weed vegetation decreased during the succession. Soil pH was significantly lower in the oldest successional stages in the Pavlov Hills and negatively correlated with the Ellenberg indicator values for soil reaction. In the course of the succession EIVs for moisture and nutrients were decreasing. The spontaneous succession leads to the species-rich dry grasslands of the alliance Cirsio-Brachypodion pinnati, which have a high conservation value.
