Motivation of seniors for education within University of the Third Age

Abstract:

Diplomová práce nazvaná jako Motivace seniorů ke vzdělávání v rámci Univerzit třetího věku má za úkol v prvé řadě definovat základní pojmy související s problematikou stárnutí a jeho procesů. Svou náplní však přesahuje do oblasti geragogiky a hledá nejrůznější klíče či argumenty k tomu, proč pro poslední dekády života zvolit pro trávení volného času právě vzdělávání. To je vnímáno jako jeden z nejúčinnějších nástrojů při prevenci proti předčasnému stárnutí, degeneraci fyzických i duševních sil nebo celkové skepse. V teoretické části textu jsou veškeré tyto argumenty nejen definovány, ale zároveň komparovány a uvedeny do patřičné diskuse na základě vlastních postřehů autorky. V její praktické části je poté přistoupeno ke srovnání dvou výsledků v totožných dotazníkových šetřeních s desetiletým odstupem, zaměřených na zjištění nejčastějších motivací seniorů pro vzdělávání v rámci konkrétní univerzity třetího věku, stejně jako na zjištění dalších jejich názorů, postojů, postřehů či potřeb. Práce se snaží přistoupit ke zlepšení a optimalizaci vzdělávání třetího věku a uceleným způsobem předat podněty na celkové zefektivnění v této oblasti.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis entitled Motivation of Seniors for Education within the Universities of the Third Age has the task of primarily defining the basic concepts related to the issue of aging and its processes. However, its content extends into the field of geragogy and is looking for various keys or arguments to why for the last decades of life to choose education for spending leisure time. It is perceived as one of the most effective tools in preventing premature aging, degeneration of physical and mental forces or general skepticism. In the theoretical part of the text, all these arguments are not only defined, but also compared and introduced into the appropriate discussion on the basis of the author's own observations. In its practical part, it is then proceeded to compare two results in identical questionnaire surveys with a ten-year interval, aimed at finding out the most common motivations of seniors for education within a particular university of the third age, as well as finding out their other opinions, attitudes, observations or needs. The thesis tries to improve and optimize the education of the third age and to provide suggestions for overall streamlining in this area in a comprehensive way.
