Risk analysis of the strategic intent of the STEELCOM group

Abstract:

Diplomová práce představuje strukturovanou ukázku analýzy rizikových faktorů, které souvisejí s možností dosažení strategického záměru konkrétní společnosti. Cílem této práce je skrze strategickou a finanční analýzu identifikovat všechna pro společnost relevantní rizika, pomocí konkrétních nástrojů analýzy rizika vyhodnotit míru dopadu na strategický záměr a na závěr navrhnout konkrétní opatření řízení rizik. V teoretické části jsou teoreticky uchopeny relevantní teoretické a metodické oblasti analýzy rizika, strategického řízení a strategické analýzy. Tyto znalosti a nástroje jsou v navazující praktické části aplikovány na příkladu konkrétní společnosti. U sledované společnosti jsou nejprve představeny vytyčené cíle a je formulován strategický záměr. Společnost je dále podrobena relevantním analýzám z oblasti strategické a finanční analýzy (např. analýze PESTLE, Porterovu modelu 5ti sil, či analýze VRIO), následně jsou vyhodnoceny všechna významná rizika a je vytvořen finanční plán na 4 roky. Následně je pomocí analýzy citlivosti a metody scénářů zkoumán možný vývoj společnosti v kontextu identifikovaných rizikových faktorů a je kvalitativně vyhodnocena pravděpodobnost dosažení primárního strategického cíle. Na závěr je představen soubor nástrojů, kterými by se přítomná rizika dala ošetřit.

Abstract:

The master’s thesis is a structured example of the analysis of risk factors that are related to the possibility of achieving the strategic intent of a particular company. The aim the thesis is to identify all risks relevant to the company through strategic and financial analysis, to evaluate the degree of impact on the strategic intent using specific risk analysis tools and finally to propose specific risk management measures. The theoretical part theoretically grasps the relevant theoretical and methodological areas of risk analysis, strategic management and strategic analysis. This knowledge and tools are applied in the following practical part on the example of a specific company. For the monitored company, the set goals are first introduced, and a strategic plan is formulated. The company is also subjected to relevant analyses in the field of strategic and financial analysis (eg PESTLE analysis, Porter's 5-force model, or VRIO analysis), then all significant risks are evaluated, and a financial plan for 4 years is created. Subsequently, the possible development of the company in the context of the identified risk factors is examined by means of sensitivity analysis and the method of scenarios, and the probability of achieving the primary strategic goal is qualitatively evaluated. Finally, a set of tools is presented with which the present risks could be treated.
