Use of the Myro device in upper limb therapy in children with central hemiparesis

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou přístrojové rehabilitace a centrální hemiparézy u dětí. Za svůj hlavní cíl si klade zjištění možného využití přístroje Myro při terapii horní končetiny u dětí s centrální hemiparézou. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část praktickou. První část se věnuje hemiparéze, její etiologii a nejčastější prevalenci výskytu u dětí. Druhá kapitola popisuje vývoj horní končetiny a projevy centrální hemiparézy na horní končetině. Následující kapitola se zabývá přístrojovou rehabilitací. V závěru teoretické části je popsána důležitost testování a jednotlivé testovací metody, jež byly v této práci využity. Praktická část je zaměřena již na konkrétní využití Myro přístroje při terapii horní končetiny u dvou dětí s centrální hemiparézou. K objektivizaci jsou využity testy Quality of Upper Limbs Extremity (QUEST), Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), Gross Motor Function System (GMFCS), Manual Ability Classification System (MACS) a samotné výstupní informace přístroje. Měření pomocí testů QUEST, GMFM, GMFCS a MACS bylo u dětí provedeno celkem 2x. První měření bylo zahájeno před začátkem terapií, druhé měření bylo provedeno po skončení dvouměsíčního docházení na Myro přístroj ve frekvenci jednou týdně. Měření na přístroji Myro probíhalo průběžně. Změřené výsledky byly porovnány, graficky vyjádřeny a následně shrnuty v diskuzi. Z porovnání vstupních a výstupních výsledků vyplývá, že ke zlepšení došlo zejména v kvalitě funkce paretické horní končetiny.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of instrumental rehabilitation and hemiparesis in children. The main goal of this study was to identify the possibility of using the Myro device in the treatment of the upper limb in children with central hemiparesis. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The first part focuses to hemiparesis, its etiology and the most common reasons for its occurrence in children. The second section describes the development of the upper limb and the manifestations of central hemiparesis in the upper limb. The following chapter deals with instrumented rehabilitation. The importance of testing and the individual testing methods are described at the end of the theoretical part. The practical part is already focused on the specific use of the Myro device in the therapy of the upper limb in two children with central hemiparesis. The Quality of Upper Limbs Extremity Test (QUEST), Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), Gross Motor Function System (GMFCS), Manual Ability Classification System (MACS) and the output data from measuring device itself are used for measurement. QUEST, GMFM, GMFCS and MACS were measured twice in children. The first measurement was initiated before the therapy, and the second measurement was taken at the end of two months of attendance on the Myro device at a frequency of once a week. Measurements on the Myro instrument were continuous. The measured results were compared, graphically expressed and then summarized in the discussion. Comparison of the input and output results showed that there was an improvement in the quality of paretic upper limb function in particular.
