Ethical Propriety and the Efficiency of the 'War on Terror'.

Abstract:

This thesis will focus on the global war on terror after the 9/11 attacks. It will examine the major military actions of the United States and her allies and examine the decisions made by political leaders of these states to determine their ethical propriety and efficiency, the viability of primary goals will also be analyzed. This thesis will try to find differences in what political leaders say is the rationale for this war and what motives this may conceal and to what extent they represent the cultural values of the US, or a cultural opposition between the west and Islamic nations.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá válkou proti terorismu vyhlášenou prezidentem G. W. Bushem Jr. po útocích 11. září 2001. Práce definuje pojem terorismus a terorista a představuje teroristické organizace zodpovědné za tyto útoky. Dále jsou zkoumány Bushovy kroky po 11. září jak ve sféře politické, tak vojenské. Změny a výsledky, které s sebou tyto kroky přinesly, jsou poté zhodnoceny. Hlavním cílem této práce je vyzkoumat, jestli je Bushova válka proti terorismu vedena v souladu s úmluvami o lidských právech a svobodách, jako i s dlouho zaběhnutými amerických hodnotami a tradicemi, které jsou sepsány v Ústavě Spojených států amerických.
