SIEM deployment for IT infrastructure of MENDELU faculties

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje výběru a následně nasazením bezpečnostního řešení SIEM do infrastruktury Mendelovy univerzitě v Brně. SIEM řešení se zabývá sběrem provozních dat ze zařízení v infrastruktuře a jejich následnou analýzou, která slouží hlavně k detekci nechtěných a neočekávaných bezpečnostních událostí. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na úvod do problematiky SIEM systému. V této části práce je kladen důraz na objasnění parametrů a schopností SIEM řešení, které je nutné zohlednit při jejich výběru. Praktická část práce popisuje proces výběru řešení podle předdefinovaných požadavků a podrobněji se věnuje nasazení a provozu vybraného řešení Wazuh v infrastruktuře MENDELU.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the selection and subsequent implementation of a SIEM security solution in the infrastructure of Mendel University in Brno. SIEM solutions involve collecting operational data from devices in the infrastructure and analyzing them to primarily detect unwanted and unexpected security events. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the concept of SIEM systems, emphasizing the clarification of parameters and capabilities that must be considered during selection. The practical part of the thesis describes the selection process based on predefined requirements and provides a detailed account of the implementation and operation of the chosen Wazuh solution in the Mendel University infrastructure.
