Employment in the Czech Republic: The Evaluation of Changes in the Branch and Educational Structure (Using Preliminary Results of the Census 2011)

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje hodnocení změn v zaměstnanosti, které se v České republice odehrály v průběhu transformace ekonomiky po roce 1989. Pozornost je soustředěna především na první decennium tohoto století a na (zpracovatelský) průmysl, který tvoří stěžejní část českého hospodářství. Zatímco první období se neslo ve znamení přechodu z centrálně plánované ekonomiky v tržní hospodářství, druhé období vývoje bylo ovlivněno zejména působením zahraničního kapitálu a v jeho závěru pak ještě globální ekonomickou krizí. Za využití předběžných výsledků ze sčítání lidu 2011, jež musely být dále upraveny, byly provedeny analýzy změn odvětvové a vzdělanostní struktury zaměstnaných osob do úrovně krajů a okresů České republiky. Mezi výstupy patří rovněž proměny typologie okresů ČR podle specializace na odvětví zpracovatelského průmyslu a evaluace regionálních rozdílů ve vzdělanosti pracujících obyvatel.

Abstract:

This paper deals with the evaluation of changes in employment which took place in the Czech Republic during the transformation of the economy after 1989. Attention is concentrated on the first decennium of this century and the (manufacturing) industry because it forms the central part of the Czech economy. While the first period was marked by the transition from a centrally planned economy to a market ones, the second period of development was influenced particularly by foreign capital and its conclusion even the global economic crisis. Analyses of changes in the branch and educational structure of the employed persons were carried to the level of regions and districts of the Czech Republic, using the preliminary results of the Census 2011 which had to be modified. Transformation of typology of the Czech districts based on specialization in manufacturing and evaluation of regional differences in education level of the working population are also ranked among the outputs.
