Prototype of a GPS-based flight recorder for navigation flying

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je vyvinout prototyp GPS záznamového zařízení (loggeru), určeného pro použití v leteckých navigačních soutěžích. Vzhledem k současné situaci a nedostatku certifikovaných leteckých loggerů poptává Letecká amatérská asociace vývoj prototypu nového loggeru, který by splňoval veškeré požadavky pro použití v soutěžním navigačním létání v kategorii ultralehkých strojů. S ohledem na dlouhodobý cíl popularizace těchto soutěží je rovněž implementována funkcionalita odesílání polohových dat v reálném čase na vzdálený server, umožňující vizualizaci jednotlivých soutěžních letů, od čehož si Letecká amatérská asociace slibuje zpřístupnění těchto soutěží divákům.V rámci diplomové práce je vyvíjen prototyp hardwarového zařízení, schopného polohu zaznamenávat a odesílat na vzdálený server přes mobilní sítě. Dále je realizována funkcionalita vzdáleného serveru, přijímající a ukládající polohová data, včetně komponenty pro vizualizaci jednotlivých letů na mapě.Vývoj probíhá podle oficiálních požadavků a pravidel Mezinárodní letecké asociace tak, aby výsledné zařízení splňovalo certifikační podmínky a bylo možné jej využít v leteckých navigačních soutěžích.V práci je využita metodika MMSP-AV a vývoj postupuje s využitím agilní metodiky Scrum.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to develop a prototype of a GPS-based flight recorder (logger) to be used in navigation flying. Nowadays, no flight recorders certified for use in aviation competitions are in production and organizatiations are looking for alternatives. Czech Light Aircraft Association is looking for a new type of flight recorder that would fulfill all of the aviation-specific requirements defined by sporting code for the microlight category. Moreover, one of their long-term goals is to promote aviation competitions. One of the ideas is to provide real-time flight tracking capability that is expected to attract some popularity. Therefore, newly developed prototype will be capable of sending real-time position data to remote server, allowing competition flights to be visualized.The goal of the thesis is to develop a prototype of such device, being able to save and stream position data to remote server using mobile network. Furthermore, the remote server with database and a simple visualization component is developed.The development is being done in accordance with Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (World Air Sports Federation) sporting code and technical requirements, so that the resulting device fulfills all of the requirements needed for certification and could be used in navigation flying competitions.For the purpose of the thesis MMSP-AV methodology and agile Scrum are used.
