Information behaviour of consumers in the field of cosmetic products

Abstract:

The submitted diploma thesis deals with the current topic in information science research, information behavior. In particular, in the field of cosmetics, because its use greatly affects human health and the environment. It is therefore good to know, if and how people are interested in this information. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first one deals with information behavior and related concepts. In the second, research in information science and information behavior is presented. The third chapter provides a brief introduction into cosmetics and explains, why it is important to address information behavior in this area. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the presentation of consumer behavior. Practical part follows and describes the specific methods used in the thesis in mixed methods research. Obtained information and information behavior of the respondents are evaluated. In this thesis, a short overview of selected sources about cosmetics is made. It can serve people to increase health literacy and to spread education.

Abstract:

Predkladaná diplomová práca sa venuje aktuálnej téme vo výskumoch informačnej vedy, informačnému správaniu. Konkrétne ho skúma v oblasti kozmetiky, pretože jej využívanie výrazne ovplyvňuje zdravie ľudí a životné prostredie. Je preto dobré vedieť, či a ako sa ľudia o takéto informácie zaujímajú. Práca sa skladá z teoretickej a praktickej časti. Teoretická časť je rozdelená na štyri kapitoly. Prvá sa venuje informačnému správaniu a súvisiacim pojmom. V druhej sú uvedené výskumy v rámci informačnej vedy a informačného správania. Tretia kapitola predstavuje stručný úvod do kozmetiky a vysvetľuje, prečo je potrebné sa informačnému správaniu ľudí práve v tejto oblasti venovať. Posledná kapitola teoretickej časti je venovaná predstaveniu spotrebiteľského správania. Nasleduje praktická časť, v ktorej sú popísané konkrétne metódy využité v práci pri zmiešanom výskume. Sú vyhodnotené získané informácie a informačné správanie respondentov. V rámci práce je vytvorený stručný prehľad vybraných zdrojov o kozmetike. Ten môže slúžiť ľuďom pre zvýšenie zdravotnej gramotnosti aj ako prostriedok šírenia osvety.
