Ways of Active Ageing from the Point of View of Third Age University Studens' in the Zlín Region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá aktivními způsoby stárnutí očima studentů Univerzity třetího věku ve Zlínském kraji. Teoretická část práce se nejprve věnuje uvedením základních pojmů jako je stárnutí či stáří a trendům ve vývoji populačního stárnutí obyvatelstva nejen v naší zemi, ale i západní Evropě. Jádro práce pak pojednává o původu, principu a realizaci myš-lenky aktivního stárnutí, jako také o potenciálu a přínosu, který mají neoddiskutovatelně starší lidé pro společnost. Dále také srovnání aktivního a pasivního přístupu k životu. Poté přináší srovnání proměny charakteristik seniorů současnosti a těch, kteří jimi byli v minulosti. Práce poukáže vliv, který má starší člověk na aktivní podobu svého stárnutí, jakožto i na výčet nejvýznamnějších oblastí, které může člověk v rámci aktivního stárnutí realizovat a na roli rodiny, jenž v tomto ohledu vůči svému členovi má. Poté práce přinese přiblížení oblasti vzdělávání seniorů, její specifika a požadavky a stejně tak představí i nejvýznamnější instituce fungující v této sféře. Následně poukáže na význam využívání informačních technologií pro seniory. Představeny budou i kořeny a působnost univerzity třetího věku ve Zlíně. Praktická část práce se zabývá výzkumem, který byl zaměřen na zmapování aktivních způsobů stárnutí očima studentů zlínské univerzity třetího věku.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the active ways of aging through the eyes of students of the University of the Third Age in the Zlín region. First, the theoretical part of the thesis deals with the introduction of basic concepts such as aging or old age, and the trends in the pop-ulation aging development not only in our country but also in Western Europe. The core of the thesis is about the origin, the principle and the realization of the idea of active aging as well as about the potential and contribution that the elderly people undeniably have for the society. It also compares the active and passive approach to life. Then it compares the transformation of the characteristics of today's senior citizens and those in the past. The thesis illustrates the influence the elderly people have on the active form of their aging, it gives a list of the most important areas that can be realized in the context of active aging, and it shows the role of the family towards their members in this respect. After that the thesis describes the area of the education of senior citizens, its specifics and requirements as well as it introduce the most important institutions working in this sphere. Furthermore, it points out the importance of using information technology for the elderly. The roots and scope of the University of the Third Age in Zlín are also presented. The practical part of the thesis deals with research focused on the mapping of active ways of aging through the eyes of students of the Zlín University of the Third Age.
