The Interweaving of natural and supernatural in the literary work of Jaroslav Havlíček

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje rané povídkové tvorbě Jaroslava Havlíčka. Zaměřuje se na vybranou sbírku Zánik městečka Olšiny, konkrétně na povídky Čert na zdi, Ubohý čert, Jasnovidka, Hodinky pana Balabána a na novelu Zánik městečka Olšiny a staví je do kontextu fantastické literatury první poloviny 20. století. Teoretická část obsahuje žánrovou charakteristiku fantastické a psychologické prózy. Součástí jsou autobiografické údaje o autorovi a přiblížení jeho tvorby, se zaměřením na povídkové soubory. Analytická část klade důraz na zkoumání nadpřirozených jevů ve vybraných dílech. Bere v úvahu jejich výskyt a následné užití v kontextu dobového vnímání nebo zkoumání nadpřirozených jevů v rámci společenské struktury. Práci uzavírá srovnání jednotlivých povídek se zaměřením na jejich signifikantní rysy.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is devoted to the early short story work of Jaroslav Havlíček. It focuses on a selected collection Zánik městečka Olšiny, namely the short stories Čert na zdi, Ubohý čert, Jasnovidka, Hodinky pana Balabána and the novella Zánik městečka Olšiny, and places them in the context of fantastic literature of the first half of the 20th century. The theoretical part includes the genre characteristics of fantastic and psychological prose. It includes autobiographical information about the author and an introduction to his work, with a focus on short story collections. The analytical part emphasizes the examination of supernatural phenomena in selected works. It takes into account their occurrence and subsequent use in the context of contemporary perception or the examination of supernatural phenomena within the social structure. The thesis concludes with a comparison of the individual tales focusing on their significant features.
