Abstract:
The thesis deals with the comparison of two Czech translations of the Twain´s novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, namely the translations by František Gel and Jana Mertinová. The thesis tries to illustrate the main lexical differences between these translations and to characterize the translation methods of the two translators. Práce se zabývá srovnáváním dvou českých překladů Twainova románu Dobrodružství Toma Sawyera, tedy srovnáním překladu Františka Gela a Jany Mertinové. Práce si klade za cíl přehledně ilustrovat hlavní lexikální rozdíly mezi těmito překlady a charakterizovat překladatelské postupy dvou zmíněných překladatelů.
