Comparison of two minimally invasive osteosynthesis techniques for proximal radius fractures in paediatric patients

Abstract:

Tato disertační práce se zabývá porovnáním dvou metod miniinvazivní osteosyntézy u zlomenin proximálního radia u dětí a hledáním metody první volby. U indikací k léčbě těchto zlomenin panují napříč literaturou i v klinické praxi nejasnosti. Obě metody osteosyntézy užívají operační techniku dle Métaizeau. U první je využit Prévotův hřeb, u druhé předehnutý Kirschnerův drát. Metody byly podrobeny detailnímu statistickému hodnocení. I přes statisticky nevýznamné rozdíly mezi oběma metodami sledujeme lepší výsledky u metody za použití předehnutého Kirschnerova drátu. Výsledek této práce by mohl sloužit k implementaci do klinické praxe u zlomenin proximálního radia u dětí.

Abstract:

This dissertation deals with the comparison of two methods of minimally invasive osteosynthesis in proximal radius fractures in children and the searching for the method of first choice. The indications for the treatment of these fractures are unclear throughout the literature and in clinical practice. Both methods of osteosynthesis use the Métaizeau operative technique. Prévot nail is used in the first and pre-bent Kirschner wire in the second method. The methods were subjected to a detailed statistical evaluation. Despite the statistically insignificant differences between the two methods, we observe better results with the method using a pre-bent Kirschner wire. The result of this work could be used for implementation in clinical practice for proximal radius fractures in paediatric patients.
