Influence of Recipient on the Stylization of the User's Manuals for the Text Editor Microsoft Word

Abstract:

Tato práce se snaží zjistit, jaké jazykové prostředky využívají autoři počítačové literatury s ohledem na adresáty, pro které jsou tyto knihy určeny. Soustředí se tedy na jednoho z objektivních slohotvorných činitelů. Pro tuto analýzu byly vybrány tři různé uživatelské příručky o programu Word. Nejprve jsme zjistili, pro jaké adresáty se tyto knihy samy prezentují. Následně jsme zhodnotili jazykové prostředky, jichž autoři využili s ohledem na adresáta, a v závěru práce jsme také porovnali, do jaké míry se autorům povedlo splnit očekávané zaměření. Výzkum jazykových prostředků se zabýval rozvržením kapitol a témat ve zkoumaných materiálech, strukturou kapitol (horizontálním, vertikálním členěním a dalšími použitými prvky). Analyzovali jsme, jaké komunikační funkce výpovědí se v textech objevují, jak jsou využívány slovesné osoby a jaký mají vliv na funkční dichotomii kontaktovost/nekontaktovost. Další výzkum využitých jazykových prostředků se zabýval slohovými postupy ve vybraných materiálech, používáním termínů a také, do jaké míry knihy spadají do odborného stylu učebního. Závěr práce ukázal, že autoři využili u každé publikace různé jazykové prostředky pro různé druhy adresátů. Potvrdilo se tak, že je snaha přicházet v počítačové literatuře s tituly koncipovanými různým způsobem, které se snaží zaujmout adresáty s různými preferencemi. Tento trend vychází ze snahy zpřístupnit různými novými způsoby počítačovou literaturu co největšímu okruhu lidí. Jde o nový zajímavý směr v odborném funkčním stylu.

Abstract:

This essay aims to find out what kind of language means use the authors of computer literature as regards to recipients for whose the books are designed. It focuses on one of the objective stylistic factors. For this analysis three different user’s manuals for the text editor Word were chosen. Firstly, we found out for what kind of recipients these books present themselves. In consequence, we evaluated the language means that authors had used as respects to recipients and in the end of the essay we compared the results with to what measure authors had managed to fulfil an expected aim. Research on the language means was concerned with a scheme of capitols and topics in the examined materials, with a structure of the chapters (horizontal, vertical classification and other used elements). We analysed what kind of communication functions of utterances appeared in the texts, how the verb persons are used and what kind of impact they have on functional dichotomy contacting/incontacting. The other research on the applied language means was engaged in stylistics method in chosen materials, using of the terms and also to what extent books come under special learning style. Result of the essay shows that the authors had used in every publication different language means for different kind of recipients. It confirms that there is a tendency in the computer literature to come out with the books that are drafted in a different way and that want to capture recipients with different preferences. This trend goes out from the tendency to open up computer literature to as big group of people as possible with the help of new different ways. It is new interesting orientation in the special functional style.
