Leaving Parental Home - Underlying Transition in the Life of Czech Youth

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá fenoménem opuštění rodičovského domova, který je úzce spjat s přechodem do dospělosti. Jejím cílem je na základě polostrukturovaných rozhovorů analyzovat zkušenost mladého člověka s opuštěním domova, postihnout hlavní události a faktory, jež tuto zkušenost ovlivňují, identifikovat motivy mladých lidí vedoucí k opuštění domova rodičů a zjistit dopady tohoto rozhodnutí na život jedince a jeho vnímání sebe samotného jako dospělého. Výsledky této analýzy vypovídají o důležitosti tohoto přechodu a naznačují, že přechod jedince do dospělosti se prodlužuje směrem do pozdějších let.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the phenomenon of leaving home which is closely related to transition to adulthood. Aim of this thesis is to analyze the experience of the young people with leaving the parental home with the use of semi-structured interview - to identify the main factors influencing this experience, try to understand the motives leading to leaving the parental home and find out the impacts of this decision on their lives and their perceiving themselves as adults. Findings of this analysis are predicating about the importance of this transition and implying that the transition to adulthood extends to further age.
