Involvement of parents in preparing children for reading

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce sestává z teoretické a empirické části, ve kterých řeším výzkumný problém spojený s domácí přípravou na čtení, která je v práci nahlížena z pozice rodičů. Tedy jak oni tuto přípravu v domácím prostředí organizují, jaké používají strategie na své dítě, jak dlouho se této činnosti věnují, jde o pravidelnou záležitost nebo příležitostnou, je jejich dítě spíše čtenářem nebo nečtenářem, a co to pak pro ně v praxi při čtení znamená. V práci se zaměřuji na rodiče žáků 2. třídy běžné základní školy, kteří již tedy ovládají elementární základy a nyní je potřeba čtení pilovat a trénovat, na což ve škole není dostatek času, a tak je tato výuka přenesena právě do rodiny. Rodiče jsou tedy hlavním aktérem této vzdělávací činnosti, kteří pokrývají valnou část výuky podněcující rozvoj jejich dítěte.

Abstract:

Presented the diploma thesis covered theoretical and empirical parts, which is deal research problem related to reading during home education from the parents’ perspective. Hence, the thesis discusses how parents organised home reading, which strategy they use towards their children, how long they usually read, is the reading regular or occasion, is their child keen on reading or not and what does it means to parents in organizing home reading. The thesis is focused on parents of pupils in grade 2 at the elementary school without specification, which they manage to do the basic technique of reading but they need to train it and precise this skill. The teaching of Czech language and literature at school is focused primarily on grammar and family assume responsibility for reading education of their child. The parents are the crucial participant in that type of educational activities which covered bigger part of schooling for progress the child abilities.
