Sustainable urban/local development versus overtourism

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je na základě zúčastněného pozorování, výpočtu WTTC/McKinsey indikátorů, zodpovězení Kontrolního seznamu pro posouzení rizika overturismu TRAN studie a dotazníkovým šetřením zjistit, zda u destinace Safari Park Dvůr Králové nad Labem dochází k overturismu a následně navrhnout manažerská do-poručení v souladu s udržitelným rozvojem města a cestovního ruchu. Literární rešerše práce diskutuje nejnovější poznatky v oblasti udržitelného rozvoje měst/míst, udržitelného rozvoje cestovního ruchu, dopadů cestovního ruchu na destinaci a overturismus. Dále řeší problematiku měření dopadů overturismu a zmírnění těchto dopadů. V praktické části jsou rozpracovány výše zmíněné výzkumné metody, které potvrdily vysokou koncentraci cestovního ruchu v oblasti areálu Safari parku, jež se směrem od areálu snižuje. Práce obsahuje manažerská doporučení, kterými by se vysoká koncentrace návštěvníků rozptýlila a byla by podpořena motivace k navštívení okolních atraktivit města.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to determine whether overtourism occurs in the destination Safari Park Dvůr Králové nad Labem and then to propose management recommendations in line with the sustainable development of the city and tourism based on participant observation, calculation of WTTC/McKinsey indicators, answering the TRAN study's Overtourism Risk Assessment Checklist and questionnaire survey. The literature search of the thesis discusses the latest findings in the field of sustainable city/place development, sustainable tourism development, tourism impacts on the destination and overtourism. It also addresses the issue of measuring the impacts of overtourism and mitigating these impacts. The practical part elaborates on the research methods mentioned above, which confirmed the high concentration of tourism in the Safari Park area, which decreases towards the site. The thesis includes management recommendations that would dissipate the high visitor concentration and promote motivation to visit the surrounding attractions of the city.
