The study of reverse painting on mirror glass

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje průzkumu souboru podmaleb na skle s různými typy pokovení. Byly zkoumány techniky amelierung églomisé, zlacený brus a jeho nápodoba, zlacení detailu a amalgámová zrcadla. Průzkum byl prove-den pomocí invazivních a neinvazivních metod. Z neinvazivních metod byla použita optická mikroskopie a pozorování v ultrafialovém záření. Z invazivních metod byla použita SEM-EDX analýza, FTIR a Ramanova spektrometrie. Na základě výsledků průzkumu vznikla detailní fotodokumentace s popisem charakteristických znaků různých technik. Také byla zjišťována technologie výroby a materiály použité pro výrobu podmaleb na skle s pokovením. Pozornost byla věnována bezpečnému ulo-žení a manipulaci s podmalbami s důrazem na amalgámové podmalby a s nimi spojenými zdravotními riziky.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to research a set of reverse paintings on glass with different types of metal decoration The techniques of amelierung, églomisé, gilded cut-glass and its imitation, gilding of detail and amalgam mirrors were investigat-ed. The research was carried out using invasive and non-invasive methods. As non-invasive method optical microscopy, ultraviolet light examination were used. As invasive ones sample collection for SEM-EDX analysis, FTIR and Raman spec-trometry were used. Based on the result of the research, a detailed photo docu-mentation was made with the description of the characteristic feature of different techniques. Also, the manufacturing technology and materials used to produce reverse paintings on glass with metal decoration were identified. Attention was paid to the safe storage and handling of the reverse paintings with emphasis on amalgam reverse glass paintings and the associated health risk.
