Lay public awareness of breast self-investigation

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na informovanost laické veřejnosti o samovyšetřování prsu. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. Na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část je zaměřena na vyhledávání informací z literatury. V této části byla popsána anatomie prsu a mléčné žlázy, rizikové faktory, které vedou ke vzniku rakoviny prsu dále pak prevence, screening, diagnostika, symptomatologie, léčba a stádia rakoviny prsu. Důležitou částí je pak samotné samovyšetřování prsu. V praktické části pak byla zjišťována informovanost laické veřejnosti o samovyšetřování prsu pomocí anonymních dotazníků. Hlavním cílem praktické části bylo zjistit, zda ženy znají pojem samovyšetření prsu a zda si samovyšetření pravidelně provádějí. Výstupem bakalářské práce je edukační leták.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is focused on informing the lay public about breast self-examination. The work is divided into two parts. For the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part is focused on searching for information from the literature. In this section, the anatomy of the breast and mammary gland, risk factors that lead to breast cancer, as well as prevention, screening, diagnosis, symptomatology, treatment and stages of breast cancer were described. An important part is the breast self-examination itself. In the practical part, the awareness of the lay public about breast self-examination was determined using anonymous questionnaires. The main goal of the practical part was to find out whether women know the concept of breast self-examination and whether they regularly perform self-examination. The output of the bachelor thesis is an educational leaflet.
