Quality of life of outpatients with diabetes mellitus

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT Úvod: Bakalářská práce zjišťuje kvalitu života pacientů s onemocněním Diabetes mellitus v ambulantní sféře. V teoretické části je práce zaměřena na charakteristiku kvality života obecně. Dále tato bakalářská práce v této části popisuje historii a charakteristiku onemocnění, možnosti léčby význam telemedicíny ve zlepšování péče a následně i kvality života pacientů s onemocněním Diabetes mellitus. Cíl práce: Cílem praktické části Bakalářské práce je zjistit rozdíly v kvalitě života pacientů s Diabetes mellitus v ambulantní péči. Metodika: V praktické části se bakalářská práce zabývá vyhodnocením výsledků získaných pomocí standardizovaného dotazníku kvality života dle WHO (Světové zdravotnické organizace (WHOQOLE -BREF). V rámci dotazníkového šetření jsem zjišťovala, jak onemocnění Diabetes mellitus ovlivňuje kvalitu osobního života a jakým způsobem je kvalita života zlepšována díky novým technologiím v léčbě tohoto onemocnění. Skupinu respondentů tvořilo 80 pacientů s dg. Diabetes mellitus dispenzarizovaných v ordinaci Diabetologie v EUC klinice v Ústí nad Labem. Výsledky kvantitativního průzkumu jsou přehledně zpracovány do výsečových a sloupových grafů a tabulek. Výsledky: Z analýzy dat vyplynulo, že pacienti s 1 typem DM jsou více spokojeni a mají tím lepší kvalitu života. Respondenti s DM 2 typu mají sníženou kvalitu života ve většině uváděných doménách. Závěr: Kvalita života pacientů dispenzarizovaných v ambulantní péči s diabetes mellitus 1 typu je vyšší než u pacientů s diabetes 2 typu. Toto jsem předpokládala, jelikož pacienti s DM 2 typu mají kvalitu života ovlivněnou věkem, financemi a chronickými komplikacemi onemocnění. Stanovené cíle Bakalářské práce byly splněny.

Abstract:

Introduction: The bachelor's thesis examines the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus in the outpatient setting. In the theoretical part, the work focuses on the characteristics of the quality of life in general. Furthermore, this bachelor's thesis in this part describes the history and characteristics of the disease, treatment options, the importance of telemedicine in improving the care and, consequently, the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus. Objective of the thesis: The objective of the practical part of the bachelor's thesis is to determine the differences in the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus in outpatient care. Methodology: In the practical part, the bachelor's thesis deals with the evaluation of the results obtained using the standardized questionnaire of the quality of life according to the WHO (World Health Organization (WHOQOLE - BREF). As part of the questionnaire investigation, I found out how diabetes mellitus affects the quality of personal life and how the quality of life improved thanks to new technologies in the treatment of this disease. The group of respondents consisted of 80 patients with diabetes mellitus treated at the Diabetology office at the EUC clinic in Ústí nad Labem. The results of the quantitative survey are clearly processed into pie charts and bar graphs and tables. Results: The data analysis showed that patients with type 1 of DM are more satisfied and thus have a better quality of life. Respondents with type 2 of DM have a reduced quality of life in most of the reported domains. Conclusion: The quality of life of patients with type 1 of diabetes mellitus in outpatient care is better than the quality of life of patients with type 2 of diabetes. I assumed this, as patients with type 2 of DM have a quality of life affected by age, finances and chronic complications of the disease. The set objectives of the bachelor's thesis were met
