Possibilities of collecting and using data about services in smart cities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřená na sběr a využívaní dat o maloobchodu a službách ve smart cities. Rozvoj chytrých měst v posledních letech akceleroval a stává se důležitým konceptem v městském plánování. Práce kriticky zhodnocuje přínosy a potencionální problémy tohoto konceptu. Využívání, získávání a vyhodnocování dat je nedílnou součástí smart cities. Data o maloobchodu a službách nám mohou poskytnout cenné informace o stavu a vitalitě města. Empirická část práce s těmito daty pracuje. Součástí byla rovněž pasportizace maloobchodní sítě vybraného území v Ostravě. Další část se zabývá analýzou, interpretací a vyhodnocením těchto dat, zejména pomocí softwaru GIS. Výstupem je série map a grafů, které detailně popisují stav města z pohledu maloobchodu a služeb. Výstupy mohou sloužit jako podklad pro tvorbu městských koncepcí a strategií. Tato empirická část může rovněž sloužit jako určitý návod nebo jako inspirace pro ostatní města v České republice.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the collection and usage of data regarding retail and services in smart cities. The development of smart cities has accelerated in recent years, and it has become an important concept in urban planning. This work critically evaluates the benefits and potential problems of this concept. The usage, acquisition and evaluation of data are an integral part of smart cities. Retail and services' data can provide valuable information about the state and vitality of a city. The empirical part of this thesis works with these data. A passporting of the retail network of a selected area in Ostrava is also included. The next part deals with the analysis, interpretation and evaluation of these data, mainly by using GIS software. The output represents series of maps and graphs that describe in a detail the state of the city in terms of retail and services. The outputs can serve as a basis for the development of urban concepts and strategies. This empirical part can also serve as a guide or inspiration for other cities in the Czech Republic.
