Anotácia:

Tato diplomová práce si klade za cíl analyzovat a porovnat vybraná anglická a česká idiomatická spojení, která se lexikálně pojí s tématy cestovaní, dopravy a pohybu. V první části práce poskytuje nezbytný teoretický základ k problematice frazeologie a idiomatiky. Ve druhé, praktické části, jsou v syntaktické a lexikální rovině analyzovány vždy dvojice vzájemně si odpovídajících idiomatických frází a jsou popisovány jejich společné a rozdílné vlastnosti, dle kterých jsou navíc tato spojení rozřazena do několika skupin.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze and compare selected English and Czech idiomatic expressions lexically related to the topics of travel, transport and motion. In the first part, the thesis provides the necessary theoretical background and discusses the relevant features of idiomatic language. The second, practical part, analyzes corresponding pairs of collected idiomatic phrases from the lexical and syntactic perspectives and discusses their common and different features. Furthermore, the idioms are classified according to the level of their mutual equivalence in the two languages.
