Global supply chain resilience with focus on the automotive industry

Abstract:

Problém s nedostatkem polovodičů a omezením výroby, spojený s častým prodlužováním dodacích lhůt v automotive je dnes velmi žhavé téma. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá strategiemi pro zvýšení odolnosti dodavatelských řetězců v automobilovém průmyslu během pandemie nemoci COVID-19. Cílem práce je definovat strategie odolnosti a jejich význam při řízení dodavatelských řetězců v automobilovém průmyslu, dále zhodnotit dopady pandemie COVID-19 na automobilový průmysl a popsat, které konkrétní strategie odolnosti jednotlivé společnosti v automobilovém průmyslu použily. Důraz je kladen na technologie čtvrté průmyslové revoluce a jejich vliv na řízení dodavatelských řetězců během pandemie a v době postpandemické. Velká část této práce byla vypracována na základě spolupráce se dvěma předními výrobci automobilů Hyundai a Daimler, které řešily problémy spojené s pandemií COVID-19 trochu odlišně.

Abstract:

Problems with the lack of semiconductors and the limited production, associated with the frequent extension of delivery times in the automotive industry, are being vastly discussed these days. This bachelor thesis debates strategies for increasing the resilience of supply chains in the automobile industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the thesis is to define resilience strategies and their importance in supply chain management in the automobile industry and to evaluate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the automobile industry. Furthermore this thesis describes specific resilience strategies which have been used during the pandemic by individual companies in the automobile industry. Emphasis is placed on the technologies of the Industry 4.0 and their influence on supply chain management during pandemics and post-pandemics. Much of this work was developed in collaboration with two leading car manufacturers, Hyundai and Daimler, which addressed the COVID-19 pandemic slightly differently.
