Evaluation of the effectiveness of the franchise acquisition project

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá investičním projektem v podobě otevření maloobchodní jednotky formou franchisy z pohledu zájemce o franchisu. Cílem této práce je vyhodnocení, zdali předpokládaná obchodní marže, která odpovídá rozdílu mezi tržbami za prodané zboží a náklady na prodané zboží, je optimální z hlediska pokrytí provozních nákladů zájemce o franchisu, návratnosti jím investovaného kapitálu a zajištění ziskovosti. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části – teoretickou a analytickou. Teoretická část představuje franchising jako formu podnikání, dále se zabývá investičním rozhodováním a metodami hodnocení ekonomické efektivnosti investic. V úvodu analytické části je popsán konkrétní investiční záměr, na který navazuje strategická analýza. Následně dochází k odhadu kapitálového výdaje, provozních nákladů a výnosů, které jsou nezbytné pro vyhodnocení ekonomické efektivnosti investice. Hodnocení probíhá převážně za pomocí dynamických metod s tím, že se pracuje se dvěma scénáři financování investičního projektu – financováním vlastním kapitálem a smíšeným kapitálem.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on an investment project in the form of opening a franchise retail unit from the perspective of a person interested in franchise. The goal of this diploma thesis is to evaluate whether the expected margin, which corresponds to the difference between sales of goods and costs od acquisition of goods, is optional in terms of covering operating costs of the franchisee, return on investment and ensuring profitability. The thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and analytical part. The theoretical part presents franchising as a form of business and it also focuses on investment decision and methods of evaluating the economic efficiency of investments. The introduction of the analytical part describes a specific investment plan, which is followed by a strategic analysis. Subsequently, there is an estimate of capital expenditure, operating costs and revenues that are necessary for the evaluation of the economic efficiency of the investment. Mostly dynamic methods were selected for the investment evaluation. There are two scenarios of financing the investment project – equity financing and mixed capital financing.
