The non-musical inspiration of selected piano composers from the romantic period

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá mimohudební inspirací čtyř vybraných romantických skladatelů a jejich klavírních děl. Text poukazuje na to, jak se mohou jednotlivé mimohudební vlivy působící na autory projevovat v jejich skladbách. Pozornost je zaměřena na Lisztovu Sonátu h moll a klavírní cykly Léta putování Ference Liszta, Obrázky z výstavy Modesta Petroviče Musorgského, Roční doby Petra Iljiče Čajkovského a Karneval Roberta Schumanna.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the non-musical inspiration of four selected romantic composers and their piano works. The text points out how particular non-musical effects of the authors can be reflected in their compositions. Attention is focused on Liszt's H minor Sonata and piano cycles the Years of Pilgrimage by Ferenc Liszt, Pictures from the Exhibition by Modest Petrovich Musorgsky, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's the Seasons, and Robert Schumann's Carnival.
