The Influence of Communism on Czech Literature in 1950s and 1960s

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o prostředcích vlivu komunistické propagandy v budovatelském románu Nástup od Václava Řezáče. Práce je rozdělená do čtyř kapitol. První a druhá kapitola nabízí náhled do problematiky ideologií, konkrétně socialismu a komunismu v teoretickém rozsahu. Kapitola třetí se stala podkladem pro uchopení českého literárního prostředí 50. let 20. století, ve kterém vznikala literární díla budovatelského typu. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje interpretační analýze, která rozebírá jednotlivé aspekty románu - postavy, vypravěče, jazyk, motivy, čtenáře. Poukazuje na ideologicko-marxistické prvky, jež byly nutnou součástí děl psaných podle norem socialistického realismu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the ways of impact of the communist propaganda in the bildungsroman Nástup by Václav Řezáč. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first and second chapters provide the preview into the ideology issue, specifically of socialism and communism within the theoretical extent. The third chapter describes the Czech literature during the 50s of the 20th century, when most of the bildungromans were created. The last chapter includes the interpretative analyses focusing on specific features of the novel, such as the characters, the narrator, language, motifs, and the reader. It points out the ideological-Marxist elements that were necessarily involved in the written pieces in accordance with the norms of the socialist realism.
