Magisterská diplomová práca sa zaoberá témou tzv. pracujúcej chudoby. Sociálny problém skúma v európskom ale tiež lokálnom českom kontexte, pričom jej primárnym cieľom je vymedzenie a otestovanie okruhu relevantných faktorov, ktoré ovplyvňujú jej celkový rozsah aj štruktúru.
