Theme from the philosophy of L. Wittgenstein

Abstract:

My bachelor thesis I open with G. E. Moore's ideas, which he wrote in his two texts, which are Proof of an external world and A defense of common sense. Since Moore reacts to some of Kant's idealistic thoughts in Proof of an external world, I pay attention first to Kant's conception of the external world. Subsequently I shift to Moore's conception and his objections to Kant, and I analyze his arguments on the subject of the existence of external things. I discuss three conditions of validity of Moore's proof. Then I interpret the skeptical and idealistic counter-arguments against Moore's proof and I also suggest the skeptical analysis of his proof. Then I touch the Cartesian skepticism and the argument of the best explanation, where I anchor the first part of my work. In the second phase, I formulate Wittgenstein's thoughts which respond to Moore's arguments in his text On Certainty. Wittgenstein speaks not only about the external world, but also about a few truisms Moore wrote in his text A defense of common sense, and therefore I note some propositions from this text and write up a couple of the Wittgenstein's reactions, which I explain. Wittgenstein proposed his own solution to the problem, which is relatively complicated, perhaps because his remarks come from an unfinished text On Certainty written only in sketches and notes. It includes the ideas of both foudationalism and contextualism. Finally, I synthesize the result of my philosophical work with a few ideas.

Abstract:

Vo svojej bakalárskej práci sa na začiatku venujem myšlienkam G. E. Moora, ktoré napísal vo svojich dvoch textoch, ktorými sú Dôkaz vonkajšieho sveta a Obhajoba zdravého rozumu. Vzhľadom k tomu, že Moore reaguje v Dôkaze vonkajšieho sveta na niektoré idealistické myšlienky Kanta, venujem v práci pozornosť najprv Kantovej koncepcii chápania vonkajšieho sveta. Následne sa presúvam ku Moorovej koncepcii a jeho námietkam voči Kantovi a rozoberám jeho argument, ktorým dokazuje existenciu vonkajších vecí. Rozoberám tri platné podmienky Moorovho dôkazu. Potom popisujem skeptické a idealistické protiargumenty voči Moorovmu dôkazu a popisujem aj skeptickú analýzu jeho dôkazu. Následne popisujem karteziánsku skepsu a argument najlepšieho možného vysvetlenia, čím ukončujem prvú časť mojej práce. V druhej fáze formulujem Wittgensteinove myšlienky, ktorými reagoval na Moorove argumenty vo svojom texte O istote. Wittgenstein sa vyjadruje nielen ku vonkajšiemu svetu, ale taktiež ku niektorým truizmom, ktoré Moore podal v texte Obhajoba zdravého rozumu, a preto spomínam aj niektoré propozície z tohto textu a vypisujem niektoré reakcie Wittgensteina, ktoré vysvetľujem. Wittgenstein navrhol svoje vlastné riešenie problému, ktoré je pomerne komplikované možno preto, že pochádza z nedokončeného textu O istote spísaného len v náčrtoch a poznámkach. Zahrňuje myšlienky fundacionalizmu aj kontextualizmu. V závere syntetizujem výsledok svojej filozofickej práce niekoľkými myšlienkami.
