Evaluation of the health status of monument trees

Abstract:

Závěrečná práce prezentuje výsledky hodnocení zdravotního stavu 11 památných stromů na území CHKO Železné hory. V první části je přehled literatury věnující se posuzování zdravotního stavu stromů obecně i s důrazem na památné stromy a je zmíněna i problematika posuzování mechanického aspektu stavu stromu. V druhé části je zpracován přehled významných škůdců, chorob a poškození, jejichž výskyt lze u sledovaných druhů předpokládat. Dle popsané metodiky jsou pak uvedeny výsledky sledování konkrétních stromů, je uvedena fotodokumentace a výsledky jsou diskutovány. Bylo zjištěno, že z 11 sledovaných památných stromů je jeden vážně mechanicky poškozen, ale již ošetřen, a další tři vyžadují urgentní zásah, zejména odstranění jmelí a proschlých větví. Nejstarší ze stromů – Klokočovská lípa je v relativně dobrém zdravotním stavu, stejně tak zbytek stromů ze sledovaného souboru. Vzhledem k věku, případně předchozímu výskytu patogenů je doporučeno i nadále pravidelně sledovat jejich zdravotní stav a u Jilmu horského na Slavíkově se pokusit ovlivnit management v okolí stromu.

Abstract:

The final paper presents the results of the health assessment of 11 monument trees in the area of the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. The first part of the paper reviews the literature on tree health assessment in general and with an emphasis on memorial trees, and also mentions the issue of assessing the mechanical aspect of tree health. In the second part, an overview of important pests, diseases and damages that can be expected to occur in the species under study is presented. According to the described methodology, the results of the monitoring of specific trees are then presented, photo-documentation is given and the results are discussed. It was found that of the 11 monitored monumental trees, one is seriously mechanically damaged but already treated, and the other three require urgent intervention, in particular the removal of mistletoe and dried branches. The oldest of the trees, the Klokočovská lime tree, is in relatively good health, as are the rest of the trees in the surveyed set. Due to the age or previous occurrence of pathogens, it is recommended to continue to regularly monitor their health and, in the case of the Mountain Elm at Slavíkov, to try to influence the management around the tree.
