Graphic design of the Czech Television news in the context of media convergence (product thesis)

Abstract:

Cílem produktové diplomové práce je naznačit možné způsoby využití grafického designu ve zpravodajských relacích České televize, a to s ohledem na kontext mediální konvergence. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na využití grafického designu v televizním vysílání s důrazem na zpravodajské pořady, mapuje historický vývoj vizuální podoby večerní zpravodajské relace Události a zpravodajského kanálu ČT24 a přibližuje také roli grafického designu v kontextu mediální konvergence. Tvůrčí část pak spočívá ve vytvoření autorského grafického řešení vizuálního systému zpravodajské relace s ohledem na aplikaci společných grafických prvků napříč mediálními platformami.

Abstract:

The aim of the product diploma thesis is to suggest possible ways of using graphic design in the Czech Television news with regard to the context of media convergence. The theoretical part outlines the use of graphic design in television broadcast, focusing on news programmes in particular. It maps how the visual style of the ‘Události’ evening news programme and the ‘ČT24’ news channel developed, and describes the role of graphic design in the context of media convergence. The creative part of the thesis provides an author’s graphic solution to the visual style of the news programme, applying the same graphic elements across different media platforms.
