Working with children experiencing the loss of a loved one - tools to support the grieving and coping process

Abstract:

Cílem absolventské práce je popsat teoretické poznatky o práci s dětmi, které ztratily blízkého člověka. V práci je popsáno vnímání smrti u dětí dle jejich věku a specifika truchlení a prožívání žalu. Uvedeny jsou také zásady komunikace s truchlícími dětmi. Je specifikována role sociálního pracovníka, který s těmito dětmi pracuje v zařízeních hospicového typu. Důraz je kladen na propojení tématu se sociální politikou a s teoriemi a metodami sociální práce. Pro práci s dětmi byl v této práci zvolen přístup orientovaný na klienta a systemický přístup. Zmíněna byla důležitost odborného sociálního poradenství a poradenství pro pozůstalé. Práce se věnuje i etickému hledisku a kompetencím sociálních pracovníků.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to describe the theoretical knowledge about working with children who have lost a loved one. The thesis describes the perception of death in children according to their age and the specifics of mourning and experiencing grief. The principles of communication with grieving children are also presented. The role of the social worker who works with these children in hospice-type facilities is specified. Emphasis is placed on linking the topic to social policy and to theories and methods of social work. A client-centred and systemic approach has been adopted for working with children in this thesis. The importance of professional social counselling and bereavement counselling was mentioned. The thesis also addresses the ethical perspective and competencies of social workers.
