Language practices in interpretation and translation in everyday use: the difference between amateur and professional translating

Abstract:

Diploma thesis, Language practices in interpretation and translation in everyday use: the difference between amateur and professional translating, deals with the language practices in amateur and professional translating. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the language repertoire, translanguaging, further with the difference between translation and interpretation, the interpretation and translation competencies. At last but not least, it concentrates on types of interpretation, translation-strategies and in the end with a type of amateur interpreting called Community Interpreting. The core of practical part is composed of researching the interpreting practices by using the Critical-Incidents-Analysis, and their comparison with the professional ones.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca, Sprachpraktiken im Dolmetschen und Übersetzen im Alltagsgebrauch: Der Unterschied zwischen Laien- und professionellen Dolmetschen, sa zaoberá jazykovými praktikami pri amatérskom a profesionálnom tlmočení a preklade. Prácu tvorí teoretická a praktická časť. Teoretická časť sa zaoberá jazykovým repertoárom, translanguagingom, ďalej rozdielom medzi prekladom a tlmočením, tlmočníckymi a prekladateľskými kompetenciami. V neposlednom rade taktiež druhmi tlmočenia, tlmočníckymi stratégiami a na záver druhom amatérskeho tlmočenia, t.j. Community Interpreting. Jadro praktickej časti tvorí skúmanie amatérskych tlmočníckych praktík pomocou metódy kritických javov, t.j. Critical-Incidents-Analysis, a ich následným porovnaním s profesionálnymi.
