The Loanwords in Czech Language

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat slova cizího původu, která jsou zařazena do seznamu tisíce nejfrekventovanějších slov v češtině z korpusu syn2020. V prvních kapitolách práce popisuje, jak Češi vnímají užívání přejatých slov a jaký mají postoj k cizím jazykům obecně. Následně se zaměřuje na adaptovaná slova - na změny, kterými prošla v procesu adaptace, na jejich grafickou podobu v češtině a na to, jak se v češtině vyslovují. Práce také popisuje oblibu jmen cizího původu mezi českými občany. V druhé části se práce zaměřuje na konkrétní výpůjčky, které se nacházejí na seznamu nejfrekventovanějších slov v českém jazyce. Tato slova rozděluje do skupin podle jejich původu a podle jazyků, z nichž byla do češtiny přímo přejata.

Abstract:

The main focus of this bachelor thesis is to analyse loanwords in Czech and their origin. The corpus for this analysis is based on thousand most frequent words in Czech from the syn2020 corpus. In the first chapters, the thesis describes how Czech people perceive the use of loanwords and their attitude towards foreign languages in general. Subsequently, it focuses on the borrowed words - the changes they have undergone in the process of borrowing, how the ortoghraphy changes after borrowing and how they are pronounced in Czech. The thesis also mentions the popularity of names of foreign origin among Czech citizens. The second part of the thesis focuses on specific loanwords that are on the list of the most frequent words in the Czech language. These words are divided into groups according to their origin and according to the languages from which they were directly borrowed into Czech.
