Hallux valgus and its relation to the posture

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na sledování vztahu deformity hallux valgus k postuře. Práce obsahuje teoretické poznatky o kineziologii a biomechanice nohy a chůze, které úzce souvisí s touto problematikou. V dalších částech se práce věnuje vymezení pojmu postura a posturální stabilita, také jsou popsány vztahy mezi palcem nohy a jeho stabilizačními mechanismy ve stoji a chůzi. Dále se práce zabývá definicí, klasifikací a vznikem deformity hallux valgus. Pro pochopení praktické části byly v teorii popsány také vyšetřovací metody využité při měření a testování v praktické části. Praktická část se věnuje vyšetření hallux valgus úhlu, který je měřen mezi prvním metatarsem a proximálním článkem palce pomocí goniometru. Dále jsou sledovány rozdíly v rozložení tlaků v jednotlivých oblastech chodidla, délce kontaktu jednotlivých oblastí s podložkou a center of pressure (COP) na tenzometrické desce FootScan?. V neposlední řadě se praktická část věnuje změnám stability u osob s deformitou HV. Získaná data jsou v praktické části porovnávána s naměřenými daty referenční skupiny osob bez deformity hallux valgus. Výsledkem bylo zjištění tlakových rozdílů pod palcem, středonoží a také délka kontaktu palce mezi skupinou osob s deformitou hallux valgus a bez této deformity.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the relationship between the hallux valgus (HV) deformity and the posture. Thesis contains theoretical knowledge about kinesiology and biomechanics of foot and gait, which are closely related to this issue. In the following parts the thesis deals with the definition of the concept of posture and postural stability, also the relations between the big toe and its stabilization mechanisms of standing and walking. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the definition, classification and formation of hallux valgus deformity. The examination methods that have been used in in the practical part are also described in the theory. The practical part deals with the examination of the HV angle measured between the first metatars and the proximal phalang of the big toe by using a goniometer. The differences in pressure distribution in the demarcated areas of the foot, the contact duration of the demarcated areas with the floor and the center of pressure (COP) on the FootScan? tensometric plate are also observed. Last part deals with changes in stability of persons with HV deformity. Obtained data are compared with measured data of reference group of persons without HV deformity in. We have found significant changes of pressure distribution under the thumb, mid-calf and also the length of contact of the thumb with a group of people with and without deformity of HV.
