The loanwords of Mapudungun in current Chilean Spanish

Abstract:

The main aim of my dissertation is to provide information on the influences of Chilean Spanish by Native Indian language Mapudungun. Both of the languages have been evolving and influencing each other since conquest America. Even though the influence is asymmetrical, Mapudungun alongside Spanish in greater measure, we can find quite a few words in Chilean Spanish. My dissertation anlyses the influence of Chilean Spanish by Mapudungun on basis of lexical analysis. The beginning of the dissertation focuses on general linguistic situation in Chile and socil background of native Indian population. Afterwards, it concentrates on Mapudungun, its history, distribution, orthography and grammer. My dissertation also contains a survey focusing on usage and knowledge of Mapudungun-influenced words in. The main question concentrates on finding out whether Chileans are aware of the fact that some of the words they use on daily basis are of Mapuche origin.

Abstract:

Předmětem této diplomové práce je poskytnutí informací o ovlivnění chilské španělštiny indiánským jazykem mapuche. Oba dva jazyky se spolu vyvíjejí a vzájemně ovlivňují již od začátku dobývání Ameriky. Ačkoliv interakce jazyků je nesimentrická, v chilské španělštině najdeme řadu slov, které mají původ v mapudungun. Práce obsahuje rozbor mapuchismů v oblasti lexické. V první řadě se zabývám obecně lingvistickou situací v Chile a situací indiánských obyvatel. Dále se také zaměřuji na jazyk mapudungun, jeho historii, rozmístění, ortografii a gramatiku. Na závěr práce předkládám také výzkum zaměřený na užívání a znalost mapuchismů v Chile. Hlavní výzkumná otázka se zaměřuje na zjištění, zda chilané jsou si vědomi toho, že užívají značné množství slov, která pocházejí z indiánského jazyka mapudungun.
