Religious-cult practices and perception Roman aristocracy on the border of the era of the Republic and the Empire

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá nábožensko-kultovním vnímáním římské aristokracie a společnosti v době změny, tedy v období přerodu Římské republiky v principát a v první polovině 1. století. Teoreticky uchopuje nábožensko-kultovní kontext tohoto období a klade důraz na význam neoficiálních kultů. Cílem práce je zhodnotit období Římského císařství na rozhraní jeho vzniku. Vytvořit syntézu novějších monografií a publikací, pomocí nichž vyvstane určitý pohled na toto období. Tento pohled bude konkrétně rozkrývat nábožensko-kultovní praktiky mocných a klade si za cíl bádat po tom, kde mocní své doby čerpali sebevědomí, jistoty a identitu - tedy jde o mentalitu římské aristokracie podloženou náboženským kultem. Cílem je taktéž nabídnout možné cesty dalšího bádání, které budou vycházet z revize novější světové odborné literatury a výzkumů, za použití mezioborového přístupu k problematice.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the religious-cult perception of the Roman aristocracy and society in the time of change, ie in the period of the transformation of the Roman Republic into the principality and in the first half of the 1st century. Theoretically, it is about the religious-cult context of this period and emphasizes the importance of unofficial cults. The aim of the work is to evaluate the period of the Roman Empire on the border of its origin. To create a synthesis of newer monographs and publications, which will give a certain view of this period. This view will specifically reveal the religious-cult practices of the powerful and aims to explore where the powerful of their time drew confidence, certainty and identity - a mentality of the Roman aristocracy based on religious cult. The aim is also to offer possible ways of further research, which will be based on the revision of recent world literature and research, using an interdisciplinary approach to the issue.
