Social representation of social work

Abstract:

Práce zkoumá sociální reprezentaci pojmu „sociální práce“ mezi vysokoškolskými studenty. Hlavní výzkumná otázka se zaměřuje na rozdíly a podobnosti sociálních reprezentací pojmu „sociální práce“ v odborné literatuře a mezi vysokoškolskými studenty. Práce vychází z teze, že sociální práce jako profesionální obor je sociálně konstruovaná skrze představy, které ve společnosti cirkulují, a ovlivňují tak lidské vnímání sociální reality. Strategie výzkumu je kvalitativní, ve výzkumu je použit polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Hlavní výzkumná otázka je rozdělena na čtyři dílčí výzkumné otázky: práce se zaměřuje na sociální reprezentace cílů sociální práce, náplně práce sociálního pracovníka, osoby sociálního pracovníka a osoby klienta. Data jsou interpretována metodou otevřeného kódování. Na základě zjištění práce předkládá možné výstupy pro sociální pracovníky - návrhy, jak zlepšit vnímání oboru veřejností.

Abstract:

The following thesis examines social representation of the term "social work" among undergraduate students. The primary research question focuses on the differences and similarities between social representation of "social work" in relevant literature and among undergraduate students. The research is based on the premise that social perception of social work as a professional field is contructed through popular concepts and ideas circulating in the society. Such constructs are shared among people and shape their understanding of social reality. The research method is qualitative - the author used semi-structured interviews. The primary research question is divided into four sub-questions: the author analyzes social representation of the purpose of social work, social representation of the social worker's job and social representation of the social worker as well as his or her client. The data are interpreted through the open coding method. Based on her findings, the author outlines suggestions for the improvement of the popular perception and understanding of the social workers' field.
