Impacts of Rising Inflation on the Financial Performance of Selected Manufacturing Companies in the District of Litoměřice

Abstract:

Rostoucí míra inflace negativně ovlivňuje finanční výkonnost společností, a proto je žádoucí, aby společnosti minimalizovaly tyto negativní dopady. Cílem bakalářské práce je vyhodnotit, jak inflace ovlivňuje finanční výkonnost vybraných výrobních společností v okrese Litoměřice a dále také vyhodnotit, jak tyto společnosti udržují svou ziskovost v podmínkách vysoké inflace. Na základě získaných poznatků je práce zaměřena na návrh optimálních strategií pro udržení ziskovosti společnosti. Bakalářská práce pracuje jak s primárními, tak i sekundárními daty. Sekundární data byla získána prostřednictvím účetních závěrek vybraných výrobních společností z okresu Litoměřice a prostřednictvím publikací Českého statistického úřadu. Primární data byla získána prostřednictvím polostrukturovaného dotazníkového šetření, které bylo adresováno manažerům vybraných výrobních společností. Vyhodnocení primárních dat proběhlo prostřednictvím regresní analýzy a sekundárních dat prostřednictvím tzv. otevřeného kódování. V rámci cíle bylo zjištěno, že mezi mírou inflace a finanční výkonností výrobních společností z kovozpracujícího, potravinářského a dřevozpracujícího průmyslu v okrese Litoměřice neexistuje žádný významný vliv. Dále bylo zjištěno, že mezi hlavní strategie, které výrobní společnosti z kovozpracujícího, potravinářského a dřevozpracujícího průmyslu v okrese Litoměřice využívají k zvládnutí inflačního prostředí a udržení ziskovosti, patří úprava cenové strategie, automatizace procesů, implementace nových technologií a restrukturalizace organizačních zdrojů. Výsledky této práce mohou přispět k již dostupným poznatkům o vlivu inflace na finanční výkonnost výrobních společností a mohou poskytnout informace pro manažery výrobních společností, kteří se účastnili výzkumu, ale i pro ostatní výrobní společnosti, jaké strategie mohou využít pro přizpůsobení se prostředí vysoké inflace a pro udržení ziskovosti.

Abstract:

Rising inflation rate is negatively affecting the financial performance of companies and it is therefore desirable for companies to minimise these negative impacts. The bachelor's thesis aims to evaluate how inflation affects the financial performance of selected manufacturing companies in the Litoměřice district and also to evaluate how these companies maintain their profitability under high inflation conditions. Based on the obtained knowledge, the thesis focuses on the design of optimal strategies for maintaining the profitability of the company. The bachelor thesis works with both primary and secondary data. Secondary data was obtained through the financial statements of selected manufacturing companies from the Litoměřice district and through publications of the Czech Statistical Office. Primary data was obtained through a semi-structured questionnaire survey addressed to managers of selected manufacturing companies. Evaluation of primary data was done through regression analysis and secondary data through open coding. Within the objective, it was found that there is no significant effect between the inflation rate and financial performance of manufacturing companies in the metal, food and wood processing industries in the Litoměřice district. It was further found that the main strategies used by manufacturing companies in the metal, food and wood processing industries in Litoměřice district to cope with the inflationary environment and maintain profitability include adjusting pricing strategy, automating processes, implementing new technologies and restructuring organizational resources. The results of this paper can contribute to the already available knowledge on the impact of inflation on the financial performance of manufacturing companies and can provide information for managers of manufacturing companies that participated in the research, as well as for other manufacturing companies, on what strategies they can use to adapt to a high inflation environment and to maintain profitability.
