Quantitative tools of agile project management

Abstract:

Daná bakalářská práce se zabývá představením kvantitativních metod v agilním projektového řízení. Je rozdělena do dvou části: Teoretická a Praktická. Cílem této práce je vytvoření přehledného a užitečného souboru o projektovém řízení. Je tvořena tak, aby každý čtenář nezávisle na míře již nabytých znalostí v projektovém řízení mohl efektivně aplikovat kvantitativní metody a rozumět jejich výstupům. Zároveň je důraz kladen na pochopitelnost výkladu a vysvětlení důvodu použití jednotlivých metod. Cílem ovšem není vytvoření dokumentu kompletně vysvětlujícího problematiku projektového řízení, ale představení příčin a způsobů aplikace kvantitativních metod v agilním projektu za využití reálného projektu. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na vysvětlení základních termínů, potřebných pro pochopení výkladu. Mezi které patří projektové řízení, agilní a kvantitativní metody. Teoretická část obsahuje výběr kvantitativních metod, které se dají aplikovat v agilním systému. Jsou také vysvětleny důvody jejich využití a význam jejich výstupů. Cílem praktické části této práce je ukázka použití metod z teoretické části na reálném příkladu. Umožňuje čtenáři lepé pochopit přínos kvantitativních metod v agilním projektovém řízení. V moderní době existují podpůrné počítačové programy, které poskytují funkcionality zjednodušující řízení projektů. Pro účely této práce byly vybrány MS Project a JIRA, na kterých je ukázána aplikace některých z metod. Hlavním účelem bylo vytvořit přínosnou práci, která by následovně pro čtenáře a další zájemce sloužila jako návod pro úspěšné řízení projektu. Práce byla vytvořena tak, aby byla jednoduše pochopitelná a využitelná pro projektové manažery všech úrovní pokročilosti.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the introduction to quantitative methods in agile project management. It is divided into two parts: Theoretical and Practical. Aim of this work is to create a clear and useful file on project management. It is designed so that each reader, regardless of the level of progress in project management, can effectively apply quantitative methods and understand their outputs. At the same time, emphasis is placed on comprehensibility of interpretation and explanation of the reason for use of individual methods. However, the objective is not to create a document that completely explains the issues of project management, but to present the reasons and ways of applying quantitative methods in an agile project with the use of the real project. The theoretical part focuses on explaining the basic terms needed to understand the thesis. This includes project management, agile and quantitative methods. It contains a selection of quantitative methods that can be applied in an agile system. The reasons for their use and the significance of their outputs are also explained. The aim of the practical part is to demonstrate the use of methods from the theoretical part on a real example. It allows the reader to better understand the benefits of quantitative methods in agile project management. In the modern world, there are supporting computer programs which provide functionalities that simplify project management. For the purposes of this work, MS Project and JIRA were selected, which show the application of some of the methods. The main purpose was to create beneficial work, which would subsequently serve as a guide for readers and other interested parties for successful project management. The work was created so that it is easy to understand and usable for project managers of all levels.
