Activation techniques with respect to the elderly people with dementia of Alzheimer type

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se zabýváme problematikou aktivizace klientů s demencí Alzheimerova typu. V teoretické části charakterizujeme proces stárnutí ? tělesné změny, problematiku malnutrice a anorexie, psychických změn, zejména kognitivních funkcí, emocí, včetně sociální situace. Zabýváme se demencí, zvláště pak demencí Alzheimerova typu včetně farmakologických i nefarmakologických možností terapie. Praktickou část jsme zaměřili na aktivizaci seniorů. Ověřovali jsme různé aktivizační techniky, které jsou popsané v literatuře, a jejich možné aplikování v praxi. Zkoumaným vzorkem byla skupina šesti klientů Domova pro osoby se zdravotním postižením v Jirkově, jimž byla diagnostikována Alzheimerova nemoc v různých stádiích. Zjistili jsme, že aktivizační cvičení je vhodné a přínosné provádět. U klientů mají tyto techniky pozitivní odezvu. Je však nutné zohlednit stádium nemoci, eventuelně další tělesná omezení.

Abstract:

The work deals with the issue of activation of clients with dementia of the Alzheimer type. In the theoretical part, we characterize the process of aging - physical changes, the problems of malnutrition and anorexia, mental changes, especially cognitive functions, emotions, including the social situation. We are dealing with dementia, particularly Alzheimer's dementia, including pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatment options. The practical part, we focused on activation of seniors. We tested different activation techniques, which are described in the literature and their possible application in practice. Sample in question was a group of six clients of the Home for people with disabilities in Jirkov who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at different stages. We found that activation exercises are possible to perform with these people. For clients, the techniques have a positive response. However, it is necessary to take into account the stage of the disease, and other physical limitations respectively.
