Demographic changes in the Czech Republic as a result of the refugee crisis

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje problematice novodobého uprchlictví na území České republiky a jeho vlivu na vývoj vybraných demografických ukazatelů - zejm. kriminality a nezaměstnanosti. Tyto ukazatele, spolu s vývojem obyvatelstva ČR a cizinců, jejich věkovým složením, zaměstnaností a porodností byly sledovány od roku 2007 až po současnost na základě dat dostupných z Českého statistického úřadu. Data byla dále predikována do roku 2020 za použití lineární funkce a bylo zjištěno, že ke změnám ve sledovaném období docházelo, ale jednalo se o zanedbatelné změny a z objektivního pohledu toto nelze připisovat uprchlické krizi, ale spíše běžnému demografickému vývoji. Přestože dochází k nárůstu počtu obyvatel ČR včetně cizinců, jedná se o nárůst pozvolný. Toto však nemá vliv na míru nezaměstnanosti ani kriminalitu, neboť v obou případech dochází ke klesajícímu trendu. Dosažené výsledky byly konfrontovány s výsledkem rozhovoru s Magdou Kociánovou, LL.M, MSc., expertkou Ministerstva vnitra ČR se zaměřením na právní aspekty mezinárodní ochrany (uprchlictví).

Abstract:

This diploma thesis was dealing with the issue of modern refugee in the territory of the Czech Republic and its influence on the evolution of selected demographic indicators - crime and unemployment. These indicators, together with the development of the population of the Czech Republic and foreigners, their age structure, employment and birth rates, was monitoring from 2007 to present, based on data available from the Czech Statistical Office. Data was further predicted until 2020 using a linear function and it was found that there were changes in the period, but it was negligible changes and objectively it can not be attributed to the refugee crisis but rather to the normal demographic development. Although there is an increase in the number of inhabitants of the Czech Republic including foreigners, the increase is slow. However, this does not affect the rate of unemployment or crime, as both indicators have a declining trend. Obtained results were confronted with the result of an interview conducted with Magda Kociánová, LL.M, MSc. She is an expert from Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic focusing on the legal aspects of international protection (refugees), the basic human rights of people granted international protection or applicants for asylum, and the resettlement and relocation of applicants for international protection.
