Cycle of Late Gothic Wall Paintings in the Cloister of Franciscan Monastery in Brno

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské diplomové práci Cyklus pozdně gotických nástěnných maleb v ambitu minoritského kláštera v Brně se v první řadě zaměřuji na výjevy Pašijí, které jsou považovány za vrcholné dílo nástěnného malířství na Moravě. Na základě stylové analýzy a následné komparace s dalšími uměleckými památkami na Moravě, zejména v Brně a Olomouci, které vznikly ve stejné době jako pašijový cyklus u brněnských minoritů, poukazuji na tvůrčí spojitosti s rakouskými a podunajskými výtvarnými centry.

Abstract:

In my bachelor’s thesis Cycle of late gothic wall paintings in the cloister of Franciscan monastery in Brno my main focus is on the revelations of the passion of the Christ, which is thought to be the supreme work of art considering wall painting in Moravia. Based on stylistic analysis and consequent comparison with other art works in Moravia, particularly in Brno and Olomouc, that were created during the same time period as the Passion Cycle in Franciscan monastery, I point out the artistic connections with Austrian and Danube artistic centers.
