Emergency paramedics at childbirth outside health facilities

Abstract:

ABSTRACT Aim: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out how the obstetrics outside the health facilities looks like, to describe specific cases of emergency paramedics who have a personal experience with extramural delivery and, on the basis of these statements, to take a deeper insight into this issue and to look for potential problems or shortcomings. Methodology: The method of analysis of the materials created for this purpose is used, the practical part of the work has the character of a qualitative survey. The necessary information is collected from the six emergency paramedics working in the Moravian-Silesian Region, the group consisting of two women and four men, emergency paramedics with 6 to 22 years of practice, the data being collected from 5. 3. to 31. 3. 2018. Results: We got information about the different experiences with extramural deliveries outside health facilities, which we have dealt with. We found out how the obstetrics looks on the terrain, what are the peculiarities and deviations in improvised conditions. None of the cases described has any experience with resuscitation of a woman or a newborn or even a placenta. According to the opinion of our rescuers, the most frequent reason for childbirth outside the health facility is the sudden delivery. The women in all our cases were transferred to the hospital and the care was handed over to the staff of the maternity hospital, so cooperation is important here. All of emergency paramedics also expressed interest in further education in the area of obstetrics. Conclusion: We can say that emergency paramedics can handle their work on extramural deliveries, but we can see that there are some issues that could be improved and first aid could be somewhat better in this area.

ABSTRAKT Cieľ: Cieľom bakalárskej práce je zistiť, ako vyzerá pôrodníctvo mimo zdravotnícke zariadenia, popísať konkrétne prípady zdravotníckych záchranárov, ktorí majú osobnú skúsenosť s rodením v teréne a na základe ich výpovedí hlbšie nahliadnuť do tejto problematiky a hľadať prípadné problémy či nedostatky. Metodika: Využitá je metóda analýzy podkladov vytvorených pre tento účel, praktická časť práce má charakter kvalitatívneho prieskumu. Potrebné informácie sú zbierané od šiestich záchranárov pracujúcich v Moravskoslezskom kraji, súbor tvoria dve ženy a štyria muži. Sú to záchranári s pôsobením v praxi v intervale od 6 do 22 rokov, dáta sú zbierané v období od 5. 3. do 31. 3. 2018. Výsledky: Získali sme informácie o rôznych skúsenostiach s rodením mimo zdravotnícke zariadenie, ktoré sme rozoberali. Zistili sme, ako vyzerá pôrodníctvo v teréne, aké sú zvláštnosti a odchýlky v improvizovaných podmienkach. Ani jeden z popisovaných prípadov neobsahuje skúsenosť s resuscitáciou rodičky či novorodenca a ani s rodením placenty. Podľa názorov našich záchranárov je najčastejší dôvod pôrodu mimo zdravotnícke zariadenie najmä prekotný pôrod. Ženy sa vo všetkých popisovaných prípadoch nechali previezť do nemocnice a starostlivosť bola predaná do rúk personálu pôrodnice, spolupráca je tu teda významná. Všetci záchranári tiež vyjadrili záujem o ďalšie vzdelávanie v oblasti pôrodníctva. Záver: Môžeme tvrdiť, že zdravotnícki záchranári svoju prácu pri extramurálnych pôrodoch zvládajú v poriadku, no vidíme, že sú tu určité záležitosti, ktoré by sa dali vylepšiť a prvá pomoc by v tejto oblasti mohla byť o niečo kvalitnejšia.
