Relicts of Disappeared Settlements in Historically Agricultural Landscapes

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na výzkum reliktů zaniklého osídlení v původně zemědělsky využívané krajině a jejich význam pro porozumění přeměny krajiny ve 20. století. Pomocí kombinace geografického informačního systému GIS, digitální modelu reliéfu DMR 5G, archivních map a terénního průzkumu byly identifikovány a dokumentovány krajinné prvky, které svědčí o historickém osídlení, například základy staveb, úvozové cesty, zaniklé plužiny nebo vegetační relikty. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována dopadům urbanizace, změně životního stylu a poválečnému odsunu obyvatelstva, které vedlo k opuštění a následné přeměny mnoha sídel a jejich okolí. Srovnáním jednotlivých lokalit práce odhaluje odlišné procesy a tempo krajinotvorných změn. Výstupem je návrh možností, jak mohou být krajinné relikty začleněny do současného prostoru v rámci kulturní krajinotvorby, a to prostřednictvím dokumentace, interpretace a šetrné péče.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the study of relicts of abandoned settlements in formerly agricultural landscapes and their significance for understanding landscape transformation throughout the 20th century. Using a combination of geographic information systems (GIS), digital terrain models (DTM 5G), historical cartographic sources, and field surveys, various landscape features indicative of past settlement – such as building foundations, sunken roads, historical field patterns, or vegetational remnants – were identified and documented. Special attention is given to the impact of urbanization, lifestyle changes, and the post-war expulsion of the population, which led to the abandonment and subsequent transformation of many rural areas. By comparing selected case studies, the thesis reveals different processes and rates of landscape change. The outcome includes proposals for incorporating these landscape heritage sites into the contemporary environment through cultural landscape planning, documentation, interpretation, and sustainable care. The research contributes to the preservation of historical landscape structures and the reflection of cultural landscape identity.
